Overview of Position: Under general direction of the Engineering Technician III; performs tasks in the measurement of water flow and storage in the District's canals, reservoirs, streams and pipelines; maintains local and CIMIS weather stations and records data; performs a variety of hydrographic studies.
Essential Duties include:
1. Performs water measurements relating to reservoirs, open channels and pipelines;
2. Maintains flow measurement stations, gauges, and sensors on canals and basins
3. Performs routine maintenance of SCADA gates/meters and radios in coordination with Project Engineer;
4. Measure canal inflow and outflow for seepage records;
5. Assists with flow measurements for the Fresno River Riparian;
6. Setting and maintaining diversions at mountain gauging stations;
7. Maintains records and file reports for Statements of Water Diversion and Use.
8. Exchanges water related data with other agencies;
9. Performs groundwater measurements and database entry;
10. Maintains weather stations;
11. Performs related engineering duties including USA's, GPSing facilities, assisting with topographic surveys, and sensor installations;
12. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Graduation from High School supplemented by college level course work in engineering, geology, hydrology, or a related field OR Completion of twelfth grade including two (2) years of experience in gathering and analyzing hydrologic and meteorological data using computerized field and office systems, and on-the-job or external training. Computer skills including Excel, Access, GIS/GPS a plus.
