COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER
The Village of Skokie, IL is currently hiring for the position of Community Service Officer. This position performs a variety of law enforcement related activities that do not require the exercise of police authority, incl investigating non-criminal & non-critical incidents; enforcing parking ordinances; serving as Desk Officer, assist in detainee processing, respond to phone inquiries from the public, data entry, traffic assistance at crash scenes & special events. May be assigned to answer calls in the 9-1-1 Communications Center. Responsible for various animal control activities including trapping, transportation, quarantine, and euthanizing. Works any one of three 8-hour shifts over a 24 hour period, as assigned. Works 40 hours in one week on any of the seven days, as assigned.
Min. 60 college credit hrs. from an accredited institution and valid DL req’d. Excellent interpersonal communication skills needed for dealing with the general public and co-workers. Basic PC skills req’d. Valid FOID card; if not in possession of one, must have the ability to become certified in firearm use and obtain a Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID) within 4 months from date of hire. Finalist(s) will participate in and must successfully advance through the following steps: Criti-Call 9-1-1 Dispatcher pre-employment test, polygraph examination, comprehensive background investigation, psychological examination, and medical examination including drug screen.
