Welder/Fabricator

a Welder/Fabricator
$25.00 TO $35.00 per hour DOE
Under general supervision of the Boatyard Superintendent, the Welder/Fabricator will perform a wide variety of welding and fabrication duties to include basic boatyard maintenance and operations duties, equipment and tool operation and maintenance, yard cleanup and houseboat pulling/launching and cribbing. Additionally, the Boatyard Welder/Fabricator will perform basic boatyard construction work including metal fabrication, welding, interpretation of plans and drawings. All work performed must be done safely and in accordance with training, best practices, and OSHA guidelines.
The successful candidate must also be able to provide exceptional customer service to our patrons, be able to manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond promptly to customer needs; solicit customer feedback to improve service; respond to requests for service and assistance; meet commitments, and be able communicate effectively with vendors, co-workers and the public and can initiate and perform detailed work with little supervision.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of boat handling and mechanical systems, marine and boating regulations and laws, inventory control, and mechanical best practices.
Education:
- Graduation from high school.
- Certifications in aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel from an accredited welding school preferred. TLMC may aid in receiving these certifications in certain circumstances.
Experience:
- Knowledge of boat handling and mechanical systems, marine and boating regulations and laws, inventory control, and mechanical best practices.
- Marine mechanical, and/or other boatyard building and service experience a plus.
Necessary Special Requirements:
- A valid California Class C Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under vehicle insurance program.
- Abide by all policies, guidelines, and rules.
