Planner
Under the general supervision of the Community Development Director, performs professional, technical, and administrative work in carrying out the Town's short-term and long-range development planning and implementation functions while ensuring a high degree of customer service. Assists the Community Development Director in overseeing the Planning and Zoning Division of the Community Development Department operations and activities, including development review, process management, zoning and comprehensive planning. Must be able to review site plans, building elevations, building permit applications and exhibits, and conduct necessary inspections to ensure compliance with applicable land development regulations and development orders. Must be able to interact with and provide information and assistance to the public, Town officials, or other individuals concerning Town Codes, land development regulations, zoning regulations, interpretation of Codes/regulations, application processes, and procedural issues; and, respond to complaints, research problems, and, initiate problem resolution. Administers meetings of the Town's Planning and Zoning Board, as well as attends occasional Town Commission meetings as required.
This is an exempt level position and is an excellent entry level position for a planner to work in the public sector. Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Urban Design supplemented by one (1) year of previous entry level planning experience; or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
Salary range: $40,989.31 to $63,860.16.
