DATA ANALYST (2021-2022)
DUTIES:
- Reporting to the Director of Information Management, and in collaboration with the Chief information Officer, lead the District’s Strategic Data team which is focused on compiling, analyzing, and reporting on data across the District’s programs and initiatives.
- Prioritize the daily work of a team of Data Analysts and collaborations with other members of the Office of Information, Technology, and Accountability on data analysis and research projects.
- Coordinates District involvement in internal and external research projects.
- Coordinate data quality and data governance initiatives.
- Audit the District’s State Reporting data (EPIMS, SIMS, SCS, and SSDR) prior to submission.
- Manages the responses to and timely fulfillment of external and internal data requests.
- Organizes the work of OITA in responding to the data and information needs of schools, including arranging for regular coaching on the analysis and use of data to inform instruction and decision- making.
- Provide coaching and support to schools in acquiring, analyzing, and understanding data.
- Under the guidance of the Director of Information Management, take a lead role in the design and development of the SPS Data Warehouse including implementation of administrative dashboards, implementation of teacher and student profiles, and development of custom reports as needed.
- Provide all necessary data and reporting in support of the District’s magnet grant, including analysis of the impact of magnet grant programming.
- Develop, implement, and refine as needed early warning indicators, key performance metrics, and District performance monitoring tools.
- Create new opportunities to share and analyze data with staff from all levels within the Springfield Public Schools.
- Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative research projects into a variety of questions.
- Monitor the District’s progress toward meeting annual performance goals and targets.
- Perform related work as assigned by the Chief Information Officer, Director of Information Management, or Superintendent, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA and Masters in Math, Statistics, Economics, Business or related field required.
- Experience conducting research and data analysis in a K-12 educational environment preferred.
- Experience partnering with outside individuals and organizations to conduct research.
- Experience with designing and implementing user-friendly dashboards and reports in a data warehousing or business intelligence environment preferred.
- Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is preferred.
- Training in and knowledge of research methods with expertise in one or more methodologies.
- Experience managing complex projects and effectively balancing numerous competing priorities.
- Ability to provide advice and guidance to senior staff and to assist the Chief Information Officer and Superintendent in resolving problems of strategy, policy, and operations.
- Creativity, strategic thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills.
- Thorough communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, department heads, and the general public.
