Fire Inspector I and Lateral Fire Inspector I & II

Under general supervision of a fire captain, performs a full range of all-risk emergency activities, including, but not limited to, fire suppression, emergency medical services, extrication, technical rescue, and hazardous materials. Firefighters will engage in the suppression of structural, wildland, and other types of fires; performs scheduled maintenance of fire stations, fire apparatus, and related equipment; provides emergency medical and rescue services to the community; participates in fire safety inspections; maintains various records and completes various reports; may be required to drive emergency fire and EMS apparatus; performs other duties as required.
Typical Qualifications:
- Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
- Qualifying Experience: To apply for this position, you must be currently employed with another fire agency as a full time paid Firefighter/Paramedic in good standing and non-probationary. At least three (3) years of continuous experience as a full time paid Firefighter/Paramedic is required.
- Licenses: Must possess a National Registry Paramedic card OR a California State Paramedic Card at time of application. If candidates apply with a National Registry card, you must be able to obtain a California State Paramedic license by the time of a conditional offer of employment. Must be able to obtain a Sacramento County EMT-P Accreditation by completion of the district specific training/orientation period. Possession of a valid [unrestricted] California Driver's License Class C. Ability to obtain and maintain a Firefighter Endorsement within six (6) months of appointment.
- FFI: Must have a Firefighter I certification accredited by the Pro Board Fire Service Professional Qualification System or equivalent at time of application.
- CPAT: All candidates must have a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) from a provider licensed by the IAFF/IAFC. The CPAT must have been obtained within one year prior to the date of application.

- Physical Requirements: Maintain physical ability and stamina to meet position tasks and responsibilities. Physical abilities must be commensurate with the essential functions of the position. No person shall pose a direct threat to themselves or to the health and safety of other individuals in the work place, or to the public they serve.
- Health Exposure: This is a Department of Health and Human Services Category I position. Tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
