Job Description:
Description of Duties: The individual selected for this position will assist the Director in the coordination and completion of tasks related to pedestrian safety, occupant protection, impaired driving and other topic areas covered in highway safety grants that have been awarded to the Institute. This position will have primary responsibility for the preparation of the annual NYS Highway Safety Strategic Plan and the NYS Highway Safety Annual Report. In addition, this position will be responsible for responding to various data requests from the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and other traffic safety agencies. This position will assist Institute researchers, analysts, and programmers with various topics related to impaired driving. The individual selected for this position must be comfortable giving public presentations and delivering training to law enforcement and traffic safety professionals.
Requirements:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Position requires a Master's degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice or related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Applicant must have strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong management and organizational skills.
- Applicant must have the ability to work with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with impaired driving programs and the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Program.
- Law enforcement experience.
- Experience with traffic safety programs and the federal funding process.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000
