MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for each level of nursing position
NURSE 1 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse; OR an Interim Permit issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
PSYCHIATRIC NURSE 1 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and one year of professional nursing experience; OR one year of experience as a Registered Nurse I in Nevada State service caring for individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
PSYCHIATRIC NURSE 2 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

DCFS LOCATION DESCRIPTIONS
DESERT WILLOW TREATMENT CENTER (DWTC) located in Las Vegas, NV. DWTC is a 20-bed psychiatric hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations that provides mental health treatment for children age 12 to 17. Desert Willow Treatment Center (DWTC) operates 7 days per week, 24 hours per day with three shifts. Due to this there are a variety of available full-time work schedules.
PSYCHIATRIC RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FACILITY (PRTF) at the Enterprise Campus providing mental health treatment for children ages 6 to 17 and is a 24 hour/7 day a week residential treatment setting. The program uses nationally recognized models of care, including a Psychoeducational model, the Trauma Informed Care Model and Recovery Model. PRTF Enterprise also incorporates Aggression Replacement Training into its philosophy of care.
OASIS ON CAMPUS TREATMENT HOMES (OCTH) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. OCTH is a treatment facility with five group homes that provides mental health treatment for children ages 6 to 17.
Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC) a 64-bed, staff-secure facility located in Elko, NV serving male youth ages 12-18. NYTC's goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Nevada Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for multiple Nursing positions includeing Nurse 1, Psychiatric Nurse 1 & Psychiatric Nurse 2 and Correctional Nurse 2. Progression to the next level in the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, and endorsement of the appointing authority, in some positions.
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act. Under immediate supervision, incumbents acquire skills and experience in performing duties outlined in the series concept.
These positions will actively participate on a multidisciplinary team providing nursing care for children at the Oasis on Campus Treatment Homes (OCTH) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. OCTH is a treatment facility with five group homes that provides mental health treatment for children ages 6 to 17.
Dynamic work responsibilities include: Planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care delivered to adolescent clients; identifying client health care needs and making comprehensive clinical evaluations; providing input and recommendations regarding nursing care and services; initiating and carrying out therapeutic, recreational, educational, social, and physical care activities; administering medications as prescribed by physicians and monitoring patients for medication side effects and/or allergic reactions; documenting client observations and the effectiveness of planned program activities; assisting in oversight of dietary guidelines; and assisting with quality assurance activities. Positions maintain a safe, healthy, and therapeutic environment for our clients, and nursing care objectives are met in accordance with the nursing association professional standards of practice and consistent with DCFS policy.

DCFS together in partnership with families, communities, and other governmental agencies provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential.
