Assistant Director of Communications
The George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School is seeking an Assistant Director of Communications responsible for delivering marketing communications messages through multiple channels in support of the school’s marketing plan. This position reports to the school’s Assistant Dean for Strategic Communications and Marketing.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Write and edit content for publications, email newsletters, the school’s website, and recruiting materials;
- Design brochures and other collateral using provided templates;
- Work with vendors and freelancers on various projects; and
- Manage the school’s social media accounts.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining the school’s website; editing and posting video and audio clips; managing the school’s photo library; photographing school events; and providing backup media relations support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, journalism, creative writing, communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; JD degree preferred;
- Extensive experience (generally 7+ years) in communications; experience working in a higher education, law school, or law firm setting preferred;
- Knowledge of web publishing platforms and content management systems, including WordPress, and the Adobe creative suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop);
- Working knowledge of graphic design;
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills;
- Skill in creating and managing social media content across numerous platforms;
- Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meet shifting deadlines;
- Ability to work quickly with significant attention to detail; and
- Ability to work as a project lead and to work effectively in teams.
