INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTION SERVICES LIBRARIAN HERBERT WERTHEIM COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for an Information and Instruction Services Librarian. This is an Instructor or Assistant Medical Librarian rank, full-time, non-tenure track position. This position is responsible for providing reference, information and consultation services for students, faculty, clinicians, and researchers to meet their scientific information needs, in person, via email, Zoom, or Teams. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and providing library instruction programs within and outside of the curriculum; explore and adapts new learning and communication modes; collaborate with faculty to maximize the integration of library instruction into the curriculum of the College of Medicine programs; and participate in new student and faculty orientation sessions. This position will contribute to the overall development and innovation of the library by actively participating in library, university, regional, and national committees, workgroups, and task forces; and monitor developments and best practices in health sciences librarianship, health care, research, scholarly communication, systematic reviews, data management, and higher education.
Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA Accredited Program.
Preferred qualifications include experience working in an academic or hospital health sciences library; experience searching biomedical literature and using NCBI databases and tools; experience with systematic reviews and data management; proficiency in evaluating levels of Evidence Based Medicine, including the analysis of supporting medical research articles; ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and implement projects and bring them to a conclusion in a timely fashion; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with faculty, students, and team members. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and instructional skills, is highly desired.
