located in Butte, Merced, and Los Angeles Counties. In order to obtain a position on the eligible list, a minimum rating of 70% must be attained. Competitors who do not complete the Training and Experience Evaluation will be disqualified. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be emailed the link to the qualification’s assessment. Be sure to include your current/valid email address on your application. Failure to provide your current/valid email address will prevent you from taking the examination. For admittance to the Guide I, Historical Monument or Guide II, Historical Monument (Specialist) examination, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications by the final filing date (2/10/2021):Guide I, Historical Monument - $3,599.00 - $4,503.00: I. Six months of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Guide Trainee, Historical Monument. (Education of college level may be substituted for up to three months of the required experience on the basis of two years of college being equivalent to three months of experience.) Or II. One year of experience involving major emphasis on oral presentations before groups. (Education of college level may be substituted for up to six months of the required experience on the basis of two years of college being equivalent to six months of experience.) and Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)Guide II, Historical Monument (Specialist) - $3,913.00 - $4,900.00:I. One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Guide I, Historical Monument. Or II. Three years of tour guide experience involving a major emphasis on oral presentations before groups. (Education of college level may be substituted for one year of the required experience on the basis of a year of education for six months of experience.)
Applicants qualifying under an education requirement MUST provide a copy of their college diploma and/or transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) by the final filing date as proof of completion of the required education. Competitors who fail to provide proof of completion of the required education will be eliminated from the examination. If you meet the entrance requirements and would like to apply for both Guide I, Historical Monument and Guide II, Historical Monument (Specialist) you must complete a separate application for each classification/examination.
