High School Career Coach
Northwest-Shoals Community College announces the following open position High School Career Coach.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, required.
• Work experience in Counseling, preferred.
• Work experience in Career Technical Field, preferred.
Essential Functions:
• Assist high school students with developing a career path.
• Counsel high schools students and family members using multiple correspondence methods.
• Advise junior high school students one-on-one including development of career portfolios, career assessment activities, sharing information on careers and career pathways, and connecting students to early college programs such as Tech Prep and Dual Enrollment.
• Plan and implement activities to involve students in career planning including college fairs and parent nights.
• Promote and recruit students for special College events.
• Maintain knowledge of financial aid opportunities for prospective students.
• Maintain a general knowledge of other college policies and procedures including academic and student support services.
• Coordinate annual visits to tour business and industries in order to make students knowledgeable of career options.
• Develop and maintain tracking system for performance outcomes.
• Participate in regional and system-wide professional development activities.
• Connect students to early college entrance programs such as Dual Enrollment, the Alabama Early College Enrollment Program (ECEP) and Tech Prep High School Career.
• Develop a seamless transition for students from high school to post-secondary education and training and the workforce.
• Assemble and provide a variety of resources to help answer career and education questions.
• Help identify outside resources for assistance.
• Provide a connection to business, industry, and higher education partners.
• Serve as Student Success contact for dual enrollment students.
• Assist dual enrollment students and high school personnel in locating and using college/career information as needed.
• Assist dual enrollment students with college experience processes such as applications, enrollment, and financial aid.
• Assist with dual enrollment recruiting, registration, and orientation.
• Assist in administering the college placement exam for dual enrollment students.
• Assist in student success activities for dual enrollment students.
• Assist on-campus fall enrollment activities such as admissions, financial aid, and advising.
• Assist Community Partners Program student recruitment.
